Pierre Gander – Cognitive Science Research
Welcome to the page for my research. Here are listed ongoing research projects I participate in, as well as earlier research projects. You can also download my papers and my PhD dissertation here.
Research interests
Cognition and language, episodic/autobiographical memory, processing of fictional information, empirical aesthetics.
Ongoing research projects
- Relations between colour experience and colour terms in Swedish, Finnish, English, and Chinese. This project is about colour perception and linguistic relativity. We compare perceptual colour categories across four languages using state-of-the-art technology for precise control of stimuli and perception. (At SSKKII Center for Cognitive Science, Göteborg University, Sweden.)
Project participants: Jens Allwood, Pierre Gander, Ingvar Lind.
Earlier research projects
- Participating in a story: Exploring audience cognition. This was my PhD work
where I defined what it means to participate in a story in terms of cognition, and did a series
of explorative empircial studies of cognition involved in experienceing a piece of computerised interactive fiction.
I looked at spatial cognition, memory qualities, and perspective, by studing language when people
talk about past events.
